Thousands were slaughtered, landscapes were destroyed, civilizations were brought to their knees. But those days are over. Now, there are 13 gods left, called the Vaelei. Each one guards the domain of an Element, and lucky mortals who a Vaelei have taken a liken to are able to use one of the thirteen elements for magic. And they're going to need it. The fall of an old Vaelei left the world overrun with monsters. Survival becomes harder each day. Tensions between rival kingdoms and nations rise.
