Many cats have lived and died of old age in the time of peace. Until one night, StarClan spoke about a great evil, like a dark storm cloud looming over the horizon. A dark heart would begin the slow erosion of the peace time. StarClan has spoken about an evil from other lands will swallow the clans whole if they cannot cooperate fully to stem the tide of death.
