The Aviary - a place where flight beats flocking! A community for self-proclaimed intellectuals and those still finding their footing. Semi-casual, non-toxic, genuinely passionate - a place to talk about art and philosophy without the performance that usually comes with it. We value the unconventional and the actually cultured. Prejudice of any kind isn't welcome here. Uptightness even less so. Substance and humor aren't mutually exclusive, and we treat them that way. Channels cover the things worth covering: cinema, music, literature (fiction and non-fiction), visual arts - plus philosophy, politics, science, and the esoteric, because compartmentalization is for people with less curiosity. Whether you're a creator wanting real eyes on your work, or someone with an urgent need to dissect Ulysses, Bergman, or Nietzsche, there's a perch for you. We run daily debate prompts, encourage intelligent debate, casual interpretation, and the kind of friendships that form when people actually mean what they say. The goal is a community with range: warm but not soft, open but not shapeless. If mainstream culture feels like a cage you've already outgrown, or you're in the process of outgrowing it, this is a reasonable next step ;)
