A few isolated cases here and there, some mutated strain that gave humans the same symptoms of, say, a rabid fox or raccoon; aggression, frothing at the mouth, hydrophobia... but it was controlled. That's what they told us, it was controlled; there was nothing to worry about. We'd be fine. It's been a few years, we can't remember how many. But we're still waiting for the control they've been talking about. We've lost our minds. The government is no more, the military far gone; it's every man for themself. Though some communities have been going strong since the beginning, there's no promise that things will stay that way. What happens is never guaranteed; despite, to the remaining few, guarantees are what keep them going.
